Privacy notice

Effective October 30, 2026. This notice covers Biblegloss and related features. Biblegloss’s operator is responsible for the practices described here. Contact: support@biblegloss.org.

Data and purposes

We process account email and authentication information; your public username, display name, biography, and joining date; insights, citations, video links, votes, talents, and saved notes; support correspondence; and technical/security information such as IP addresses, device/browser information, timestamps, and request logs. Supabase handles passwords and authentication; passwords are not displayed publicly. We use information to operate accounts and features, deliver service messages, attribute contributions, prevent abuse, moderate content, answer requests, comply with law, and maintain and improve the service. Where applicable, the legal bases are providing the requested service, legitimate interests in operating and securing it, legal obligations, and consent where required.

Public and private information

Profiles and approved insights, sources, attribution, dates, and talents are public and may be indexed, copied, or retained by search engines and others. Pending and rejected insights are available to their authors and administrators. Account emails and saved notes are not intentionally made public. Do not submit sensitive personal information or another person’s private information.

Cookies and providers

Essential cookies and browser storage support sessions and security. Saved passages currently use local storage on your device; saved notes are stored with your account. Temporary print selections are stored in your browser session. Print previews may include your own unapproved insights when you choose them; check the preview before sharing a printout or PDF. We do not currently use advertising cookies or a separate marketing analytics service. Video players load only when you choose to load them; doing so connects to YouTube or Vimeo, whose own privacy and cookie practices apply. Fonts may load from Google Fonts, which receives network and device information. External links also lead to independently operated sites.

We use service providers, including Vercel for hosting, Supabase for authentication and database services, and email/domain providers for service messages and support. Providers may process technical information as part of delivering their services. We may disclose information to providers acting for us, to comply with law or protect rights and safety, or in a business transfer subject to applicable protections. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will update this notice and obtain consent when legally required before materially different processing.

Retention, security, and requests

We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, including security, moderation, records, and legal obligations. Deletion may leave limited backups, security records, or lawful archival copies; public copies held by others are outside our control. We use reasonable safeguards, but cannot guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information in the United States and other countries, with applicable transfer protections where required.

You can permanently delete your account through Account → Delete account after verifying your current password. This removes your profile, insights, votes, talents, and saved notes, revokes account sessions, and clears saved passages on that browser. Saved passages on other devices must be cleared there. You can also delete individual insights using Delete insight. You may request access, correction, a copy, or deletion of your information, or raise a privacy objection, by emailing us. We may verify identity and apply lawful exceptions. Rights and response obligations depend on applicable law; we will not retaliate for exercising them. Where applicable, you may complain to your privacy regulator. Accounts are limited to adults 18 or older; we do not knowingly solicit children’s personal information. Contact us if a child has provided account information.

We will post updates here with a revised date and provide additional notice when required. See also our terms of use.

Content reports and moderation alerts

We collect the reason and optional details when you report an insight. Reports are visible to administrators, not publicly or to the reported author. We send administrators an email notification through Resend when an insight needs approval or is reported; report details and comment text are reviewed on the site after sign-in. Reports and delivery records may be retained to prevent abuse and document moderation; deleting an account removes the reporter’s account association.
